Sony has released firmware version 3.1.0 for the WF-1000XM6, and the headline feature is a substantial improvement to active noise cancellation. According to Sony, the update delivers up to 15% better noise reduction in low-frequency ranges.
In our testing, the difference is noticeable — particularly on planes and trains where engine rumble is a constant companion. The WF-1000XM6 was already among the best in class for ANC, and this update widens the gap.
Additional improvements in this update:
- Improved wind noise reduction in Ambient Sound mode
- Better multipoint connection stability
- New EQ presets including "Podcast" and "Gaming" modes
- LDAC codec stability improvements
The update is available now through the Sony Headphones Connect app on both iOS and Android. It takes about 10 minutes to install.
