Meta's next-generation VR headset — widely expected to be the Meta Quest 4 — has reportedly been pushed back from a 2026 launch to late 2027 or even 2028, according to leaker Luna and reporting from UploadVR and Road to VR.

Meta canceled its high-end "Pismo" prototype headsets and cut approximately 10% of Reality Labs staff in early 2026. The company appears to be deprioritizing expensive standalone headsets in favor of its smart glasses business, where the Ray-Ban Meta partnership is generating enormous consumer demand — with production scaling to 20 million units.
